Many believers carry doubt like contraband — something to be hidden, certainly not admitted in church.
But Scripture is remarkably relaxed about honest doubt. Thomas asked for evidence and got it. The father who said I believe, help my unbelief was not corrected; his son was healed. The psalmists ask how long with a bluntness that would make most small groups uncomfortable.
What Scripture is not relaxed about is indifference. Doubt that keeps asking is a form of engagement. It is faith working, not faith failing.
Do not lean on your own understanding does not mean stop thinking. It means stop making your comprehension the load-bearing wall. You can hold questions you cannot answer and still trust a Person you have come to know.
Bring the doubt with you. He is not fragile, and He is not surprised.
