There is a particular loneliness in praying about something for months and hearing nothing back.
The temptation is to interpret the silence, and we almost always interpret it against ourselves. He is angry. He is disinterested. He has moved on to people with fewer complications. Silence is a blank page and we fill it with our worst assumptions.
But a father sitting beside a sleeping child is silent too. Presence does not always announce itself.
Scripture is honest about this. The psalms are full of people asking how long. God does not rebuke them for asking. What He asks for is stillness, not the absence of questions, but the willingness to stop filling the quiet with fear long enough to notice He never left the room.
You can hold the question and His nearness at the same time. Most of the faithful people you admire have done exactly that for years.
