Resting in His Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23

Most of us are better at remembering what we are afraid of than what we have already survived.

Look back over the past year — not at what you accomplished, but at what you were carried through. The bill that somehow got paid. The relationship you were sure would not recover. The morning you did not think you could get out of bed, and did. At the time each one felt like a crisis with no floor underneath it. From here, you can see the floor.

That is what faithfulness looks like from the inside: usually invisible while it is happening, obvious in hindsight. God is rarely early and He is not often dramatic. He is simply there again, the way morning is there again.

Whatever you are afraid of today has a history it does not know about. You have been carried before. The same hands are still holding you.
