Not by Might Nor by Power

Zechariah 4:6

Zerubbabel was rebuilding the temple, and the rebuild was not going well. The people who remembered the first one wept when they saw the foundation of the second.

That is the setting. Not a triumph. A diminished project, underfunded, watched by people who remembered better days.

Into that comes the sentence. Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.

It is worth noticing what it does not say. It does not say the work will be impressive, or that the critics are wrong about the size of it. It relocates the source. Whatever gets finished here will not be finished by the resources you can count.

Most of us need this on ordinary Tuesdays rather than in crises. The marriage, the job, the faith you are trying to keep upright with strength you do not have. The strength was never the plan. It was never going to be enough, and it was never supposed to be.
