We live in an era that rewards the visible. Work that cannot be photographed feels, somehow, like it did not count.
Jesus consistently pushed against that instinct. Pray in the closet. Give without announcing it. Let the left hand stay uninformed. He was not asking for false modesty, He was protecting something. An audience changes why you do things, and it does it so gradually you rarely catch it happening.
The unseen parts of your life are not the warm up for the visible parts. They are the actual thing. The character you build in private is the only thing you will have to offer in public that is real.
Today will likely contain nothing anyone applauds. Do it well anyway. Someone is in the room.
