Seven words, and the important one is the verb. We walk by faith, not by sight.
Walking implies motion. It assumes you are going somewhere before the view clears, which is the part we quietly resist. We would rather wait until we can see, then walk confidently, and call that faith.
But sight and faith are set against each other here. Whatever you can already see does not require faith to act on. The word only applies in the gap.
There is a mercy hidden in the phrasing too. Walking is unremarkable. It is not leaping or charging. Most of the Christian life moves at exactly that pace, one ordinary step in a direction you cannot fully verify.
If you have been waiting for clarity before you move, this verse suggests the order is usually reversed. The clarity tends to arrive to people already walking.
